Obituary for ALLEYNE

Mavis Alexander Alleyne, 77, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mavis was a dedicated wife, loving mother, beloved sister, and friend. She was born May 30, 1930 the daughter of Richard and Ann Alexander in Trinidad, West Indies. She was a woman of integrity and fairness. Mavis was loved and respected by everyone fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, especially by her family. Mavis was well educated and highly ambitious throughout her career. Her keen sense of propriety directed all aspects of her professional and personal life. Mavis lived her allotted 77 years with style, curiosity, compassion, and wide ranging interest. Her sincere interest in others constantly drew more friends to her so they could bask in her warmth, compassion and graciousness. She never left a letter unanswered or a thank you note unwritten. She was intently interested in the everyday occurrences in the lives of her family and friends. As well as being active in various community organizations, she was a prayerful woman with love for others, self sacrifice, and commitment for pleasing her Lord Jesus Christ. Mavis is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gene Alleyne; daughter, Jennifer Alleyne; sisters, Edith Fraser, Grace Judge, June Felix, Una Assam, and Judy Alexander; brothers, Clive Earlyn, Carlton, and Andy Alexander; and many precious nieces and nephews. Mavis will be greatly missed and forever loved. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the Rio Rancho Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1351 19th Avenue, Rio Rancho. Interment will take place on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Vista Verde Memorial Park, 4310 Sara Rd., Rio Rancho. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rio Rancho Seventh Day Adventist Church, or People Living Through Cancer Organization.
