Obituary for WROBEL

Chester A. Wrobel, 86, of 4 Santos Court, Tijeras, NM, passed away on May 8, 2008. He leaves his loving wife and of 62 years, Adele M. (Markunas) Wrobel; his sons, Dennis Wrobel and his wife, Philippa of Cockatoo, Victoria, Australia and Douglas Wrobel and his wife, Judith of Tijeras, NM where Mr. And Mrs. Wrobel reside. Mr. Wrobel also leaves his grandchildren, Jessaca and her husband, Eric of Wisconsin; Melissa Malouin, Andrea Wrobel and Matthew Wrobel of New Hampshire; Amy Lee Serrano of Florida and his great-granddaughter, Brittany Lee Serrano of Florida. He also leaves his former daughter-in-law Debbie Wrobel of Oklahoma. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward Wrobel, Stanley Wrobel, Charles Wrobel and Benjamin Wrobel and his sister Florence Santos all of Massachusetts. Mr. Wrobel was born in Worcester, Massachusetts the son of Anthony and Rose (Michalak) Wrobel. He went to St. Mary's School and followed this with a much cherished graduation from Worcester Industrial Technical School. He lived in Worcester until he retired when he and his wife moved to Florida and then to New Mexico. Before retiring he worked for Wyman Gordon, North Grafton plant for over 40 years as a rigger. He proudly served his country during World War II in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy having been honored with three Campaign Medals from three theaters, the Good Conduct medal and Victory medal. These medals were presented to Mr. Wrobel as well as medals belonging to his brother, Charles who was a victim of the Bataan Death March. Senator Pete Domenici of New Mexico honored Mr. Wrobel in a surprise ceremony on July 4th of 1996 and much to their delight. Mr. Wrobel will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He will forever be in their hearts and just a thought away. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 12, 2008 from the Daniels Family Mortuary in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with the recitation of the Rosary and Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church with internment in the Vista Verde Memorial Park also in Rio Rancho, NM. Mr. Wrobel will be interred with full military honors. The family requests that remembrances for Mr. Wrobel be a donation in his name to Holy Child Parish, PO Box 130, Tijeras, NM 87059.
