Obituary for MORIER

Michael William Morier passed away at his home in Belen on May 6, 2008. He was born in Dearborne, MI. When sunshine drew him to the southwest, Michael worked on a Navajo reservation in Sanders, Arizona and learned the burnishing technique that would shape the pottery for which he became renowned, horsehair pottery. At the height of his career, Michael's work was featured in 52 galleries across the United States and overseas, including Albuquerque and Santa Fe. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Froseth-Stern of Belen; sister, Harriet and her husband, Richard; daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Gerry and Christine and her husband, Andy; five grandchildren, Jesse and Amanda Whitaker and Justine, Christopher, and James Johnson; nephew, Will Dwyer and a niece, Nicole Morier. A celebration of Michael's life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Belen, 75 Manzano Expressway, with Pastor Jay Armstrong officiating.
