Obituary for DEPEW

Mina Johansen DePew passed away April 26, 2008, at Monzano del Sol in Albuquerque. Born in Cherokee, IA July 19, 1918, to Fred Johansen and Isa Lighthall, she grew up in Clarinda, IA with her younger sister, Kathrine. She graduated from the University of Iowa and married Reo DePew of Clarinda May 31, 1940. In Dayton, OH July, 1944 she gave birth to a son, Jon; and in Baltimore, MD July, 1948, a son, Ren. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1949 when Reo began his career at Sandia National Laboratory. Mina, a full time mother and housewife, was an active member of PEO and the First Congregational Church. Her creative talents drew her to handy crafts and playing in Bell Choir. Mina was preceded in death by Reo in July 1990, and is survived by sons Jon DePew of Pasadena, CA, Ren DePew of Tijeras, NM, niece Karen Hurley-Watkins of Fairfield, CA And Nephew Steven Richardson, M.D., of Coos Bay, OR. A memorial service will take place at the First Congregational Church, 2801 Lomas Blvd. N.E. on May 7 at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Cotty College, 1000 W. Austin, Nevada, MO 62772 would be appreciated.
