Alicia Monell Goekler, a woman after God's own heart, went home to be with Jesus unexpectedly on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at the age of 28. She was born November 2, 1979, in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Ralph Goekler and Scheery Renken Goekler. Alicia graduated from Eldorado High School, in Albuquerque in 1998, from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, in 2002 with a BS degree in biochemistry and was pursuing a Master's in business administration from Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond. She is survived by her mother and best friend, Scheery Goekler, of Edmond; her father, Ralph Goekler, of New Mexico; her brother, Ryan Goekler; and sister -in-law, Carol Goekler; and nephews, Isaac, Caden, and Canyon Goekler of Edmond; her grandfather, M.H. Renken, affectionaly known as Papa, of Crescent; her aunt and uncle, Jeanie and David Gallman, of Edmond; her uncle and aunt, John and Jeanne Ann Renken; and cousin, Madison Renken of Methuen, MA; her aunt and uncle, Patty and John Hurdle; and cousins, Johnny and Eli Hurdle of Edmond; her uncle, Dean Daugherty, and cousin, Dakota Daugherty, of Fairview; her aunt and uncle Twila and Shawn Ubersox; and cousins, Stefanie and Cassidee Daugherty in Prairie du Sac, WI; aunt and uncle, Louise and Delvin Reese, of Oklahoma City; and cousins, Cheryl, Scott, Carrie, and Callie Thompson and Randy, Gay, Kylie, and Ashlan Reese, OKC; uncle and aunt, Les and Margaret Goekler, of Mesquite, TX; and uncle, Lester Goekler; and other extended family. Alicia loved her family and was particularly devoted to her nephews Isaac, Caden, and Canyon, who affectionately called her "Auntie" for whom she was like a second mom. She loved to plan family activities and to share in the joy of being together. Alicia was deeply loved and will be greatly missed, especially by her mom with whom she shared a very special relationship. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she worshipped along with her mom and served as lst grade TEAM table leader and on the stewardship board's Sunday morning counting team. She was eager to learn more about her Savior by attending Bible studies in her church. She especially enjoyed studying the book of Romans in Bible Study Fellowship, which she attended with her aunt Jeanie and was looking forward to starting BSF again in the fall for the study of Moses with her mom. An important part of her faith journey was realizing how God could use her to point others to Him. A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 3600 NW Expressway Street, OKC at 10:00 a.m., and the Burial Service at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Lahoma, OK at 2:00 p.m. Memorial gifts can be made to Messiah Lutheran School for education scholarships.
