Maxine Dawes, also Maxine Gandee, nee Maxine Mayer, was called to God from her home in Albuquerque, NM, on Sunday, April 13, 2008. She shared her life with us for 78 years. Maxine was born on August 16, 1929, in Albuquerque; her first home was the Montezuma Hotel. Her parents, Charles Mayer, Sr. and Mabel (Jones) Mayer, were the proprietors. She graduated from the original Albuquerque High School, and went on to work in customer service. She is survived by her children, Scott Gandee, Zia Zaragoza (nee Marion Gandee), and Susan Pascetti and husband, George; grandchildren, Jacob A. Hunner and Damian Pascetti; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, and Gio; sister, Mrs. Margaret McReynolds; sister-in-law, Mrs. Lois Mayer; nieces, Marlene Mayer and Margaret Silins; nephew, Charles McReynolds; great-nephew, Christopher Silins; and extended family in Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Mayer, Jr; sisters, Helen and Marianna Mayer; brother-in-law, Orton McReynolds; five uncles, and two aunts. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., in the Carlisle Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd NE.
