Obituary for DE LA TORRE

Jorge Miguel de la Torre, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Maria Mercedes; two sons, Jorge de la Torre and wife, Kelly of Denver, CO, and Carlos de la Torre and wife, Sarah of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Jordi, Luca, Gabriella, and Mateo; mother, Martha Muller de la Torre of Cochabamba, Bolivia; and three brothers, Luis de la Torre and Alfonso de la Torre, both of Albuquerque, and Carlos de la Torre of Cochabamba, Bolivia. He was born on September 25, 1942, in Cochabamba, Bolivia and came to the United States in 1963 to study Architecture at the University of New Mexico. He graduated in 1966 Magna Cum Laude, and then returned to Bolivia where he married Maria Mercedes Sanchez de Lozada. They returned to the United States in 1967 where they made their home in Albuquerque. After working with several firms, he opened his own architectural firm in 1975. His work is evident throughout Albuquerque and the western United States, earning him several design awards. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including fly fishing, and skiing. He was an artist and loved painting, and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He was a devoted family man and a loving and doting grandfather. A Catholic Memorial Service will be held for Jorge on Saturday, April 19, 2008, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
