Obituary for HOOK

James William Hook, Jr., 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Sunday, April 6, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathleen Compton Hook; one daughter; two sons; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one stepson; two stepdaughters; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great- grandchildren. Mr. Hook was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on May 30, 1912 but lived in New York state and Connecticut from 1916 to 1948. After graduating from the Taft School in 1930 and Yale University in 1934, he worked with the J. Walter Thompson Company advertising agency in New York City prior to his duty in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. In 1948 he moved to Albuquerque and worked at Sandia Laboratories for 24 years. Mr. Hook was Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board during the 60's and was a member of Alpha Delta Phi, the Society of Colonial Wars, and Mensa. As per his request, a private graveside service will be held at Sandia Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice.
