Martel J. "Marty" Fisher, age 82, of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully and joined his wife and daughter, Saturday, March 22, 2008. Marty was a 25-year veteran of the US Navy, serving both in WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association and a Distinguished Endowment Lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed the company of his close friends while hunting, fishing, and camping, enjoying the outdoors. Marty was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by a son, Jim Fisher and wife, Gisela; daughters, Marlowe Cata and husband, Al, and Mary Barraclough and husband, Tim; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maxine, of 56 years; his devoted daughter, Sister Mary Martha; and his loving grandson, Terah. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 27, 2008, at 6:00 p.m., at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel NE. A Committal Service will be held Friday, March 28, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
