Obituary for SCHREIBER

Eleanor V. Schreiber, 93, a resident of Rio Rancho since the early 1980s, passed away March 7, 2008. The daughter of John Kautz and Eleanor Kuen Kautz, Eleanor was born in Chicago, IL, September 22, 1914. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Barney; and her son Jerry in August 2007. Having lived through the Depression, Eleanor learned how to be incredibility resourceful and dedicated. She was always willing to do whatever needed to be done to help her husband, family, and her community succeed. She exemplified the type of person who has been a part of America's "greatest generation." She and Barney worked with the Boy Scouts during the years their sons were active in the program. After her sons grew out of their scouting years, Eleanor continued to give back to her community by volunteering to be a leader for Camp Fire Girls. Eleanor and Barney sang in a Lutheran church choir and taught Sunday school in their early years. Eleanor was a gentle person who will be remembered for her profound respect for others. She and her husband were devoted to each other as well as to their children. She is survived by her brother, John Kautz; her children, Scott Schreiber and his wife, Judith, of Rio Rancho; three grandchildren, Jonna Schreiber and friend Kim Card, Jennifer Herbert and husband Tracey and Heidi Schreiber-Goodman and Craig Goodman; five great-grandchildren, Maisie Schreiber, Erin Goodman, Madison Goodman, Peyton Herbert and Carter Herbert; and her daughter-in-law, Corrine Schreiber. A celebration Memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2008, at West Mesa Christian Church, 8821 Golf Course Road NW in Albuquerque, where she was a member.
