Sally Roessell Martin was born to O. M. "Jack" and Isabella (Waide) Roessell on October of 1927 in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Sally was a remarkable woman who was loved by many. Sally passed peacefully in her sleep on March 3, 2008, in Hobbs, NM at the tender age of 80 years. Cremation has taken place under the direction of West Funeral Home, and no local services are planned at this time. Interment will be at a later date in Las Cruces next to "Jerry", her beloved husband of 45 years. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Gerald W. Martin; sister, Katherine Johnson and husband, Cliff; grandsons, Christopher Martin Shepard and Daniel Steven Weaver. Survivors are daughters, Patricia Shepard of Hobbs and Barbara (Rick) Weaver of Carlsbad; nephew, Dick (Marcie) Johnson of Albuquerque; grandsons, W. Wayne Sheppard (Wanda) of Mimbres, NM, Justin James Wood of Ruidoso, William Connor of Carlsbad; in-laws, Dean and Martha Martin and sons of Las Cruces and Skip and Sandy Martin and daughters of Las Cruces. She is also survived by one great-grandson, C. W. Shepard, of Mimbres, NM, and numerous great friends around the state.
