Obituary for SAINZ

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday March 05, 2008

Frank Angelo Sainz, 59, passed away on March 2, 2008. Born in the Bay Area of California, Frank's family moved to New Mexico shortly after he was born. While attending Ysleta High School in El Paso, he met Alice Romero. The two dated while Frank attended the University of Texas at El Paso, and they married in 1972. They moved to Albuquerque in 1979, where Frank opened and managed a number of businesses in Old Town, including Southwest Treasures, Storyteller, Trader's Market, and Marquette Gifts. He was very active in civic organizations, helping to organize charity balls during the Ken Schultz administration. He was also a member of the Hispano Chamber of Commerce, the Old Town Merchants Association, the Innkeepers Association, and the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. However, Frank will best be remembered for his smile and his personality. He called everyone friend, and could always be counted on to lift up anyone who was down. He will be greatly missed by his wife and four daughters, Lisa, Kristi, Linda, and Kathy; his mother, Frances; his brother, Chuck; his wife's family; and everyone whose lives he touched. A Rosary will be recited at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 12:30 p.m., with Memorial Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m.
