Rubel Chavez was born October 21, 1945 in Punta de Agua, NM. A lifelong resident of Punta de Agua and Albuquerque, he passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2008. Rubel loved fishing and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcelino and Predicanda Chavez and by his sister, Ruby Vallejos. Rubel is survived by his two children: daughter, MaryAnn Griego and husband Fabian of Albuquerque; one son, Danny Jones and wife Patricia of Hermleigh, TX; two step-children, Gilbert Fernandez of Cuba, NM and Brandi Fernandez of Rio Rancho, NM.; four grandchildren, Janelle, Fabian, Tyanna and James Von; six sisters, Cleo, Stella, Juana, Corina, Crucita and Tina; two brothers, Polinario and Daniel; over 150 nieces and nephews; many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. A Rosary will be recited at Church of the Ascension, 2150 Raymac Rd. in Albuquerque, on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Alice Catholic Church in Mountainair, NM on Thursday, March 6, 2008, however the time is pending. Burial will follow at the Punta de Agua Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Fabian, Fabian Jr., Daizhon, Gilbert, Jimmy and Cipriano. Honorary pallbearers will be Eloy Griego and Tio Adelaido Trujillo.
