CAROL LOUISE KIRK STANKE February 28, 1921- February 22, 2008. As a young girl, Carol could be seen roller-skating through the streets of her hometown, Albuquerque. She moved to Gallup with her family, graduating from Gallup High School, and went on to become a sister of Alpha Chi Omega at UNM. Carol and her husband, Edward Stanke, made their home in Santa Fe, where she was actively involved in the community: President of the Junior Women's Club, Eastern Star, PEO, St. Vincent's Auxiliary, Open Hands, St. Elizabeth's Kitchen, Bowling Club, Sewing Club, and Bridge Club. A loving mother of four boys, she served the Boy Scouts of America for over 10 years. Carol was a founding member and dedicated volunteer at St. Bede's Episcopal Church. In her spare time, she worked as a book keeper and bank teller. Carol maintained her wonderful sense of humor and social graces throughout the last years of her life after returning to Albuquerque. She will be remembered for the love and friendship she showed everyone she touched with her life. Ed preceded Carol in death by 16 years. She is survived by her four sons, Edward Charles II and his wife, Barbara of California, John and his wife, Linda of Santa Fe, Jay and his wife, Cathy of Albuquerque, Guy of Santa Fe; ten grandchildren.
