Obituary for SCRIVNER

Alvin Carl. Graveside Services for Alvin Scrivner will be in Tatum, NM on March 2, 2008 with Ron Smith, officiating. Alvin, who was born in Tatum, May 20, 1928, graduated from Tatum Schools and from the University of NM. He was a long time employee of Bradbury and Stamm as a Construction Manager. Alvin loved to sing and was humming along with his daughter the day he died. He had earlier sang in a Barber Shop Quartet and was always ready for a bridge game. After graduating a year early, Alvin served in the Korean War. He was the youngest of nine children in the Scrivner family. He married Carolyn Graves in 1966. He is survived by their daughter, Carrie Scrivner; granddaughters, Samantha and Sarah DeHerrera; his stepchildren, Gail Norton and Ralph Hammershmidt; a brother, W.C. Scrivner and his wife, Katherine, of Durango, CO; his sister, Maleta Scrivner, of Tatum, NM; a sister-in-law, Harriet Scrivner, of Lakewood, CO; many nieces and nephews; and a very special niece, Dorothy Scrivner, who took such good care of him in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn; parents, W. C. and Pearl Scrivner; sisters, Muriel Moore, Frances Scrivner, and Ruth Williams; and brothers, Mansil, Loyd, and Gerald. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to alzheimers association, in memory of his wife.
