CATHERINE A. BYERS 1922-2008 Catherine A. Byers, Santa Fe, died February 1, 2008 at home surrounded by family following a brief illness. Her husband, Leonard L. Byers, predeceased her in 1988. Born in Simpson, PA, daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine Modec, she was a member of the Christo Rey Church, Santa Fe, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was an active member and past president of the Santa Fe Women's Club and also a member of Bienvenidos of Santa Fe. When not traveling the world, she enjoyed participating in frequent bridge games, going to club meetings and being with friends and family. Surviving her are one daughter, Deb Torrington and son-in-law, Kenneth, San Antonio, TX; and two sons, Michael L. Byers and daughter-in-law, Deidre, Tucson, AZ and Steven N. Byers and daughter-in-law, Suellen, Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Dorothy M. Fedick, Royersford, PA; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. at Cristo Rey Church in Santa Fe on February 3, 2008. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the same church at 11:30 a.m. on February 4, 2008 followed by interment with her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Cristo Rey Church or the Santa Fe Women's Club.
