Allen "Al" Cowling, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on January 12, 2008. Al is survived by his loving wife, Rose; daughter, Christine Mier; grandson, Ronald Allen Mier and wife, Mary; granddaughter, Lisa Song and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren, Maquela and Seth Mier; daughter, Ramona Hamblet and husband, Kurt; granddaughters, Monica and Karissa of Santa Maria, CA. Additionally, he is survived by brothers-in-law, Alfred Rivera and wife, Yvonne, Peter Rivera and wife, Ethel, Leo Rivera and wife, Margaret; sisters-in-law, Stella Hathaway and husband, Owen, Helen Anaya and husband, Natividad, Rosabelle Pacheco and husband, Jose. Al was a graduate of the old Albuquerque High School and Northwestern Missouri State University. He served in the USAF in the Korean War. Al was the Assistant manager of the Alvarado Hotel and General Manager of several Fred Harvey Restaurants. Al retired from Farmers Insurance after 27 years. He was a member of Congregation Albert, served three terms as president of Temple Albert's Men's Club, member of the Jewish Braille Institute of America and the Cerrillos Masonic Lodge of Santa Fe. The Memorial Service is to be held on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, with Rabbi Joseph Black and Cantor Barbara Finn officiating.
