Obituary for ULIBARRI

ROBERT 1951-2008 Robert Ulibarri, age 56, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis (which is a lung disease not associated with smoking). He was the oldest son, of Preme and Margaret Ulibarri. Robert was a native of Belen and graduated from Belen High School. He was a plumbing contractor by trade, but also an avid builder. Robert enjoyed helping friends and family with projects throughout his life. He approached everything he did with great enthusiasm and took pride in a job well done. Throughout his physical hardship he maintained his natural optimism and humor. He never lost hope. Robert had a wonderful dry wit and a contagious laughter. He placed a very high value on family and loved the people he shared his life with. He was a devoted, loving husband, father and friend of the community. Robert will be greatly missed by the people who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Preme Ulibarri. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Dr. Laura Ulibarri; three loving children, Robert, Jason and Adam Ulibarri; mother, Margaret Ulibarri and five siblings, Kathy Vaupel and her husband, Ivan of Albuquerque, Dolores Silva and her husband, Mike of Belen, David Ulibarri and his wife, Sharon of Albuquerque, Charles Ulibarri and his wife, Joy of Belen, and Regina Chambers and her husband, James of Wichita Falls, TX. Robert will also be dearly missed by his mother-in-law, Dylia Castillo; brother-in-law, Ralph and his wife, Roseann; sisters-in-law, Annette Garcia and her husband, Glen, Vicky Erickson and her husband, Max and Annette's daughter, Dawn Ward and her husband, Brad. He is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a visitation on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Reggie Chavez, Charles and David Ulibarri, Frank Ortega, Brian Perea, Junior Ralph Castillo, Glen Garcia and Max Erikson.
