Obituary for JOHNSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday January 13, 2008

Virginia J. (Ginnie) Johnson died January 10, 2008 of ovarian cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband, G C Johnson; daughter, Vicki and her husband, Mike Raugh of Placitas, NM; and brother, Hugh Jones of Paris, TX; nieces and nephews, all of whom were loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Ralph Jones and brothers, Billy Joe and Ralph W. (Bud) Jones. Virginia graduated from Paris High and Paris Jr. College. She worked at Neiman-Marcus and for the City Attorney of Dallas. After marriage, she and G C worked at Los Alamos. In Albuquerque, Virginia worked for Sandia, then as a Real Estate Broker. Thanks to friends and neighbors for their kindness during this ordeal. Virginia was blessed to have a very dear friend, Sandy Lavender, whose love and support meant so much. Also special thanks to Dick and Lillian Croghan who brought food, flowers and love. Others who kept her spirits up: June Herman, Sue Prinz, Erna White, Glendora Smith, and Jean Cluck, who showered Ginnie with beautiful cards and caring words. Sincere appreciation to all of them. In lieu of flowers, Virginia urges every woman to insist on an annual CA-125 blood test, a tumor-marker. Early detection could save you from this killer disease. Cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral according to her wishes. French Mortuary, Inc. 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 505.275.3500 www.frenchmortuary.com
