Obituary for CRAWFORD

Rosalie Franey Crawford, 84 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2008. She was born July 19, 1923 in Deming, NM to Robert and Harriet Franey. Rosalie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 27 years, Harry L. Crawford; her parents, Robert and Harriet Franey; two brothers, William R. Franey, Romuald J. Franey; and her sister, Roberta Hoagland. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Wickens and her husband, Robert of Rancho Mirage, CA; and her sister-in-law, Helen Franey of Perry, OK. She is also survived by five nieces and two nephews and many wonderful friends. Rosalie graduated from Deming High School. She attended Dominican College in San Rafael, CA. She graduated in 1945 with a bachelor's degree in economics. She was the student body president of the college her senior year. She worked for a law firm in Vallejo, California for two years before returning to New Mexico. She went to work as a secretary for Sandia National Laboratories in 1948. The organization only had about 900 employees at that time. She was chosen to be the executive secretary to Sandia's first president, George Landry in 1949. Rosalie continued to work for eight more presidents and retired in November 1986. She always joked that she worked for 38 years and never got a promotion. After retirement she enjoyed playing golf and making storyteller dolls. She traveled with a group of eight friends all over the United States. She had many friends and went to lunch with them almost every day. She was a charter member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Church where she attended daily mass. A Rosary Service will be held at the French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming NE, at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2008. A Memorial Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m., Monday, January 14, 2008 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont NE.
