Obituary for MELENDEZ

Ismael Felix Melendez, 90, a resident of Albuquerque went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 4, 2008. Mr. Melendez was born and raised in Roswell. Lt. Col. Melendez retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1966 after a distinguished career of 25 years. He was very committed to his church, his God, his family and he loved music, sports and people. He was a member of the Young at Heart Choir for several years and was an active member of the Golden Circle at church. Ismael is survived by his three children, Michael, Mia and Timothy; his two grandsons; siblings, Grace Melendez Jaramillo, Eddie Melendez, Ruth Ramos and Manuel Melendez; and the mother of his children, Avohn Melendez. He was preceded in death by two brothers during WWII, II Lieut. Lionel Melendez and I Lieut. Moises Melendez and by brothers, Joe and Philbert Melendez. Service will be Monday, January 7, 2008, 12:00 p.m. at First Spanish Fruit Ave. Baptist Church, 812 Fruit Ave., NW, Albuquerque. An additional Service will be Tuesday, January 8, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at Spanish Calvary Baptist Church, 600 E. Tilden St., in Roswell, NM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
