Obituary for MCLEOD

Sally McLeod, 71, died Saturday, December 22, 2007. She was born August 31, 1936, in Emporia, Kansas. She was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, graduating from Highland High School. She attended Northwestern University and Reed College, graduating from Northwestern in 1958. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority in college. After living in Tacoma, WA; Boston, MA; and Oak Park, IL, she returned to Albuquerque to have and raise her family. She received her Master's Degree from University of New Mexico in 1973. In the ensuing years, she worked as a mother and a teacher. She taught math for the Los Lunas Public Schools, APS, and T-VI. She was an active member of AAUW, Alpha Gamma Delta Alumnae, and Duke City Bridge Club. She was an avid supporter of the Arts. She volunteered at the Albuquerque Museum as a docent and held season tickets for the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra for countless years. She also delivered meals for Meals on Wheels for several years. She volunteered her time to several other charitable organizations throughout her life. She was a former member of First Presbyterian Church and a current member Sandia Presbyterian Church. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her five children, who survive her: Kathy Schwarting and husband, Dave, of Kailua-Kona, HI; Matthew McLeod and wife, Karen, of Evanston, IL; Charlotte McLeod of Albuquerque; Duncan McLeod of Santa Paula, CA; and Jim McLeod and wife, Valerie, of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her brothers and a sister-in-law: Carl Brogan and wife, Sharon, of LaGrange, GA; Bill Brogan and wife, Julia, of Alamogordo; and Nancy Brogan of Santa Paula, CA. Four grandchildren survive her: Brandon, Kaitlyn, Noah, and Hannah. She leaves behind many close friends. A Memorial Service will be held to honor her life January 2, 2008, at Sandia Presbyterian Church at 11:00. Flowers may be sent to the church, 10704 Paseo del Norte, 87122.
