Obituary for JOHNSON

Robert "Bob" Edwin Johnson, 84, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007 in the presence of his loving family. Born June 19, 1923 in Osage City, KS to Arthur and Blanche Johnson. Robert graduated from Ruskin High School, Kansas City, MO. He enrolled at the University of Alabama and in 1943 enlisted in Army Air Corp. Aviation Cadet training. Robert was commissioned in May 1944 to 2nd Lieutenant and entered Pilot Training at Williams AFB, Arizona. He was a senior flight instructor with over 5000 hours in various single engine jets, Conventional twin and four engine as well as civilian single and twin engines. Robert attended Air Command and Staff School and Squadron Officers School at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, also Air University Senior Officers Aerospace Management. He Served in served in many capacities during his 24 years in the Air Force. To name a few; Chief Tactical Air Systems Officer at Directorate of Nuclear Safety, Sandia Base, NM, Nuclear Briefing Offices, Atomic Weapons Training Group, Defense Atomic Support Agency, Albuquerque, NM, Staff Officer, Headquarters 22nd AF Military Airlift Command, Norton AFB, CA., Flight Instructor, Squadron Officers School, Maxwell AFB Alabama, and Base Adjutant, Laquers AFB, Azores. Robert is survived by his daughters, Lana Carver and husband, George, JoEllen Acosta and husband, Clovis, Barbara Lingle; grandchildren, Liz Acosta, Missy Bianco, Lea Lindstrom and George Carver III; and six great-grandchildren.
