Obituary for THOMAS

Lois M. Thomas, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Cottages of Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughter, Jane T. Kight and husband, Tom of Albuquerque; son, Hugh H. Thomas and wife, Rosemary Craft of Manassas, VA; five grandchildren, Thomas Kight, William Kight and Andrew Kight, all of Albuquerque and Erin Thomas and Jason Thomas, both of Manassas, VA; and other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Donald R. Thomas, on September 2, 2007; and sisters, Ruth Dempsey and Jean Cooper. She was born on October 5, 1921 in Gooding, ID to William Albert and May Myrtle Montgomery Harnett. Lois grew up in Gooding and graduated from Gooding High School in 1939. She attended the University of Idaho and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Lois was married to Paul Ryan who was killed in action in the South Pacific during WWII. During the occupation of Germany, Lois volunteered for service with the Red Cross in Europe, supporting the Allied Forces. Upon returning to the United States she met Donald Thomas in 1946 in Gooding, ID. They were married on September 25, 1946. She spent the rest of her life raising her children and enjoying her grandchildren. Lois was an avid reader and bridge player, a member of Chapter X PEO, and First Presbyterian Church. She and Don traveled and visited family and friends in the United States and Europe. Lois was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family would like to express a special thanks to Ambercare Hospice and everyone at the Cottages of Albuquerque for their loving care to Lois. They would also like to express their thanks for the guidance of Geriatric Care Management of Albuquerque. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Services will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, on Thursday, December 20, 2007, 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Carl Soderberg officiating. Private interment of cremated remains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
