Roy Ben Gutierrez was born April 1, 1939 in Belen, NM. A longtime resident of Bosque Farms, Roy passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at his home. Roy will be remembered as a hard working man who loved to spend time with his family, friends and relatives. He also enjoyed gardening. Roy retired from the Bureau of Reclamation - Department of the Interior, as a Heavy Equipment Operator, after 26 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Trinidad Gutierrez and by his sister, Lucilla Pacheco. Roy is survived by his loving family; his wife of 42 years, Margaret Gutierrez of the family home in Bosque Farms; two sons, Roy Gutierrez and wife, Liz of Bosque Farms, Jeremy Gutierrez and wife, Terri and extended family of Los Lunas, NM; two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Jordyn; five siblings, Mary Simms, Ralph Gutierrez and wife Deluvina, Cecilia Sanchez and husband, Martin, Betty Luna and husband, Pat, and James Gutierrez; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services and visitation will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, 3674 Highway 47. A Visitation will begin on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. The Rosary will then be recited at 2:00 p.m., with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., with the final viewing at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Hoy Tran will preside. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with U.S. Army Honors. Pallbearers will be James Gutierrez, Marvin Sanchez, Bobby Armijo, Ronald Luna, Emiliano Sanchez, Robert Simms, Christian Garcia, Larry Baca, Celso Sanchez, and Don Stone.
