Obituary for MARTINEZ

Adelina L. Martinez, age 96, a resident of Pueblitos, NM, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2007. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. During WWII, Adelina moved to Los Angeles, CA to work for the National Defense Department. While there she met and married her late husband of 31 years, Sam Martinez. After the war she received a degree as a nurses-aid and went to work caring for the elderly. Adelina liked to cook and would cook for the priests in different parishes in California. After her husband's passing she moved back to her family home in Pueblitos. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estevan and Aurelia Lopez; four brothers, Benito, Manuel, Filimon and Lute Lopez; and one sister, Amalia and her husband, Jesus. Adelina is survived by her three sisters, Lucia Lopez of Pueblitos, Onecema Duran and her husband, Frank of Phoenix, AZ, and Emilia Baca and her husband, Odelio of Tome, NM; three brothers, Estanislado Tane Lopez of Pueblitos, Eduardo and his wife, Sessie of Belen, and Pete Lopez of La Crescenta, CA; brother-in-law, Julio Martinez of Albuquerque, NM; and her special niece, Margaret Douglas of Fort Branch, IN. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give a special thank you to Gene and Virgie Chavez for all the loving care they gave to Adelina over the last three years. A viewing will be held at San Isidro Catholic Church in Pueblitos, on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Cemetery.
