Cecil Lynn Thompson Sr., 84, a resident of Los Chavez, NM, passed away on November 13, 2007. Mr. Thompson was born on July 19, 1923 to Vassar L. and Jewell (Watkins) Thompson of Capitan, NM. He attended the University of New Mexico for two years before entering the U.S. Navy. He served our country in the Navy for over four years. Mr. Thompson was a Heavy Equipment Specialist for Region 3 of the U.S. Forest Service. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service after thirty-six years of service. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and raising horses, cattle, dogs, and grandkids. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Dorothy R. (Powell) Thompson of the family home; daughters, Linda McQuillen and husband, Terry, of Shiloh, OH, Deborah Brown and husband, Bill, of Albuquerque, NM; and son, Cecil Lynn Thompson, Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Los Chavez, NM; 13 grandchildren; Susan Smith, John Thew, Jared Thew, Beau Gantt, Monique Torres, Joshua Brown, Levi Thompson, Eli Thompson, Kalin Thompson, Danny Vaughn, Decqua Vaughn, Samantha Vaughn, and Richard Vaughn; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his daughters, Beverly Gantt and Diane Vaughn. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Psalm Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Service, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, Albuquerque. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Bosque Farms, with Rev. Duane Baker, Minister of the Gospel, presiding. Interment will be on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Capitan Cemetery, Rev. Randy Weidner, presiding. Pallbearers will be Beau Gantt, Jesus Torres, Josh Brown, Levi Thompson, Eli Thompson, and Kalin Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jared Thew, John, Thew and Terry McQuillen.
