Julia Clara "Julie" Cogdill, age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007. Julie was born in Springer on January 8, 1930 to the late Livinis and Clara (Ferfes) De Smet. She was a graduate of Springer High School. She eloped with the love of her life, Hershel Cogdill to Santa Rosa, NM on January 13, 1947. Julie owned and operated a successful tanning salon and clothing boutique in Albuquerque, known as Tan Around. She then retired to work at her passion, quilting, for which she had a true gift. She will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother and grandmother, and a wonderful friend to all. She was a jewel to those who were closest to her and who knew her well. Her personality and sense of humor will be missed. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Hershel; one son, Greg and wife, Kelli Cogdill; three daughters, Donna and husband, Benny Smith, Kari and husband, Bob Hardesty, and Shelley Cogdill; and special family members, John Smith and wife, Janet and their daughter, Sierra; four grandchildren, Lexie and husband, Jason Graham, Cooper Cogdill, Chelsea Hardesty, and Tori Cogdill; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Hannah Graham; one sister, Martha Van Zandt and husband, E.L.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 1:00 p.m., at Springer Cemetery.
