Obituary for YATES

William H. Yates, 85, of Placitas, NM, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2007. Born in Wingo, KY, he had been a local New Mexico resident for many years. Mr. Yates proudly served his country in the European Theater during WW II, and participated in the Normandy invasion. He received an American Theater Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, the Bronze 5 Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and a Victory Medal WW II. William was predeceased by his son, John Yates, and his wife, Wanda Yates. He is survived by his loving family, son, Dr. Terry L. (Nancy) Yates; grandchildren, Brian C. Yates, Michael R. (Laura) Yates, Kevin Ferrera, Michelle (Ray) Romero, and Lotus (Ken) Catlin; ten great-grandchildren; a brother, Ed (Kitty) Yates; sisters, Jean Greer and Bettye Stone; and a daughter-in-law, Sara Yates. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on October 20, 2007 at the Yates' residence in Placitas.
