Obituary for D'ANGELO

Joseph John Jr. Lt. Col. Joseph John D'Angelo, Jr. passed away on October 11, 2007. He was born on October 12, 1918 in Keiser, PA to Joseph and Rose Vitacco D'Angelo. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather. He grew up in Marion Heights, PA playing baseball with his brothers and cousins. After attending Bloomsberg State College, Joe joined the service with the Army Air Corps. While stationed at Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, NM, Joe met his future wife of 56 years, Dorothy Genevieve Rogers. Joe went on to obtain his B.S.M.A. in Education from UNM. After surviving 2 plane crashes in his B-29, Joe lived his life to the fullest. He love to travel with his wife; taking trips to Mexico, Europe, and enjoying shows in Las Vegas. Joe enjoyed the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and more recently Rod Stewart's Stardust collection, and as dancers of the jitterbug and swing, won many championships with his wife. Joe was a member of the Elks Club Lodge and Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. However, Joe was happiest when he was surrounded by friends and family, preferably in the mountains or fishing at his cabin in the Brazos. These memories will be treasured by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers. He is survived by his sister, Genevieve Makowski of Shamokin, PA; two sons, Jack Leonard D'Angelo of Placerville, CO and Terence Keith and Luella Chavez D'Angelo of Centennial; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Mackenzie D'Angelo (24), Keith Andrew D'Angelo (21), and Joseph Dominick D'Angelo (6), all of Centennial, CO; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Please join us in remembrance of his extraordinary life on Thursday, October 18, 2007. Rosary and Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with reception to follow.
