Obituary for CHAVEZ

Elmer D. Chavez, 67, a life-long resident of Los Lunas, NM, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 21, 2007. He will be dearly missed by his family and always remembered as a loving father, companion, tata, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and was always willing to listen and offer advice. He worked many years in medical collections, but his greatest assets were his generosity and compassion, and his life accomplishment was being a great Dad. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Feliz Chavez; brother, Edwin Chavez; and sister, Armida Otero. Elmer is survived by his two loving daughters, Michelle Bruns and her husband, Daniel of Albuquerque, NM and Yvaughn Mullis and grandson, Tyler Mullis, both of Salisbury, North Carolina; companion, Barbara Giron and her children, Charles Giron and his wife, Bernadette and Katheryn Giron; and grandson, Jeremy Olguin, all of Belen, NM; sisters, Oralia Otero, Clarita Lopez and her husband, Orlando, Merlinda Perea and her husband, Joe, Mabel Pena, Reina Garley and her husband, Willie, Bernie Beatty and her husband, Paul, and Laura Padilla; brothers, Wences Chavez and his wife, Virginia and Eddie Chavez; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta, NM beginning with a visitation at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Hoi Tran officiating. Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Grandsons Tyler Mullis and Jeremy Olguin will be urn bearers for their Tata. Sign Elmer's online register book at www.romerofuneralhomenm.com.
