Hazel M. Bayes (Grandma George), died Friday, September 21, 2007. She was born in Blanchard, MI to Benjamin and Edith Krouse. She is survived by her two sons, James E. and wife, Jill of Arkansas and Billie J. and wife, Elaine of Albuquerque; grandchildren, James C. Bayes, Steven B. Bayes, Scott B. Bayes, Tim A. Evetts, Julie K. Baca, and Jennie R. Filmer; great-grandchildren, Corey L. Bayes, James T. Bayes, Laura E. Bayes, Cassie L. Bayes, Stephanie R. Evetts, Amanda-Lee J. Bayes, Louie L. Baca, Tony P. Baca, Haley I. Baca, Dylan D. Filmer, and Savanah R. Filmer; great-great-grandson, Gavin Hallerberg; and sister, Florence Kendall of Lansing, MI. Mrs. Bayes was preceded in death by her husband, EH "Tokie" Bayes; and grandson, Brent Bayes. She moved to Albuquerque in 1947, and with her husband, owned and operated the Vermont Grocery. She then worked at Kistler Collister from 1964 until it closed in 1992. Cremation has taken place and interment of cremated remains will take place Monday, September 24, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
