William L. "Bill" Akers passed peacefully at home September 3, 2007 with his family present. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joyce Akers; daughter, Kim Akers; sons, Steve Akers, Frank "Tom" Akers, Bryan Akers, and Bryan's wife, Karen Akers, all of Albuquerque; grandson, Aaron Akers of Albuquerque and granddaughter, Shannon Akers; grandson, Beau Akers of Caballo, NM; sister, Joanne Farris of Clifton, CO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as dear friends all over the country. Arrangements for cremation have been made with French Mortuary. Friends and relatives are invited to join the family for a celebration of his life at son Steve's home, September 15, 2007 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Salvation Army or a homeless shelter of choice.
