Obituary for CASEY

GERMAINE Patrolman Germaine Casey, 40, a traffic officer with the Rio Rancho Police Department, was killed on Monday, August 27, 2007, in a motorcycle accident while he was a part of the police escort for President George W. Bush's fundraising trip to Albuquerque for Senator Pete Domenici. Patrolman Casey was an officer with the University of New Mexico for two years and had served two years with the Rio Rancho Police Department. Germaine Casey was born on May 22, 1967 in Illinois. He and his wife, Lisa, came from Chicago to reside in Albuquerque in 2002. His wife survives him, along with his two children, Melissa, age 17, and Mitchell, age 14. He is also survived by his father, mother, and two sisters who reside in the Chicago area. Casey, who graduated from Rich Central High School, Olympia Fields, IL in 1985, played minor league baseball in the Atlanta Braves organization and was an avid baseball and softball player. Everyone who knew Germaine Casey will be gathering to celebrate his life and everything he did to make our lives richer on Friday, August 31, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park and a reception will follow immediately at the FOP Lodge at 5900 Jefferson, NE. Fellow officers from the Rio Rancho Police Department and the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department will have the honor of carrying Germaine to his final resting place. They are: Chris Maestas, Chris Schear, Rey Zamarron, Leroy Maldonado, Eric Kuebler, and Nick Onken. Viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW.
