Obituary for MORGAN

Ernest N. Morgan, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1942, died Thursday, August 23, 2007 at home with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Beth of 61 years; daughter Susan Morgan of Austin, TX; brother Marvin and Dorothy Morgan of Kingsport, TN; sister-in-law Helen and Raymond Jackson of Albuquerque, NM; beloved nieces and nephews, Valerie and Don Abernathy; Allan and Pamela Morgan; Neil and Artys Morgan; Patti Spencer; Maryle Barber, Helen and Rodney Miller; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Ernest Morgan was born June 26, 1922, in Nashville, TN, but spent his early childhood in Geneva, OH. He was a Boy Scout and a member of the Methodist Church in Geneva. The family moved to Nashville in 1934. Ernest went to Highland Heights Junior High School in Nashville. He played right guard on the football team and clarinet in the band in high school at Goodlettsville, TN. He graduated from Andrew Jackson Business University in Nashville in 1941. Ernest served in the USAF from 1943 to 1953. As 1st Lt. Commander of B-24 crew, he conducted bombing raids in the South Pacific with the 49th Fighter Bomber Wing. He was awarded air metals, two Bronze Clusters, and a Korean War Service Medal for meritorious achievement during which hostile contact was probable and expected. During his service, Ernest met his love Beth and settled in Albuquerque to be with her and they were married in 1946. After his service, he found employment as an office manager for the National Cash Register Co. from 1947 until his retirement in 1986. Ernie was Mensa intelligent with an inquiring imagination. He was always working on some project or invention and created many ingenious devices and solutions throughout his life. He was fascinated with computers and programming from the early models on. He had a love for sailing, snow skiing, square dancing, fly fishing, painting, writing, family and friends. He traveled the world. He was open minded and young at heart. He will be missed by many. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at the Chester T.
