Colleen L. Higgins, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973 passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007. She is survived by her children, Craig David Higgins and wife, Margaret, of Rio Rancho, NM and Judith Kathleen Rasco and husband, Bill, of Mabank, TX; three granddaughters, Laura Garcia of Albuquerque, Kristie Edwards and Karyn Rasco of Mabank, TX; two grandsons, Matt Higgins and Keith Higgins both of Albuquerque; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew J. Higgins, Jr.; one son, Barry Lynn Guthrie; and her parents. She was born on December 1, 1925 in Independence, KS to Samuel B. and Grace Elizabeth Michal. Colleen moved from Independence, KS to Denison, TX until 1973 when she moved to Albuquerque. Colleen worked as a legal secretary for 35 years. She was an active member of the Shriners while her husband was alive and also a member of the American Legion Post 49 Auxiliary. Colleen was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to travel and fully enjoyed life. More than anything she loved her family and spending time with them. Colleen was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Graveside Service will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Tuesday, August 28, 2007, 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Miller officiating.
