Helen Marie Pipher, age 84, of Belen, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 20, 2007, surrounded by her family. Helen had been a resident of Belen since 1973. She was born in Champaign, IL on November 8, 1922 and attended the University of Illinois before moving to Albuquerque in 1949. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belen and also a member of the Daughters of the Nile. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Nora Guinn and a brother, Donald. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale Pipher; daughters, Janet Curcione and her husband, Louis of Lewiston, New York and Connie Day and her husband, Rick of Dolores, Colorado; son, Jerry Pipher of Belen; brother, Elmer Guinn, Jr. of Naples, Florida; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Helen's life will be held on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Belen, with Rev. Jay Armstrong officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Helen's memory to the Ballet Abyad Shrine Center Transportation Fund, 6600 Zuni, SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
