George was a CCC Boy in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1930's and worked projects throughout New Mexico. He and his wife Ila were rockhounds and loved to explore the southwest together in their RV. He was a veteran of World War II having served as a Sergeant in the Army in the SW Pacific. George worked as a technician in centrifuge testing and retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1972 after 20 years of service.
