John W. Schmidt, age 81, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2007, in Albuquerque. He is survived by his two daughters, Sherrie Lacey and Judy Tuft, both of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Phillip Saxon, Homer Mellas, April and Amber Hill. John was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Schmidt; his parents, John Schmidt and Maudie Schmelzle-Schmidt; and one son, Charles (Bill) Hill. He was born on September 22, 1925 to John Schmidt and Maudie Schmelzle-Schmidt in Denver, CO. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation for John will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Thursday, August 2, 2007, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel with Pastor Lemuel Boyles officiating. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Martin's Hospitality Center, 1201 3rd St. NW, 87102.
