Obituary for WILKINS

Loyd Joseph Wilkins III (Butch) died in his Albuquerque home July 9, 2007. He was born in Raton on October 13, 1946. He graduated from Raton High School and while attending there he played trombone in the school band. He was an enthusiastic football player and loved all sports, including baseball and golf. Upon graduating he spent two years in the New Mexico National Guard. He attended the "College of the Sequias" in Visalia, CA. At that time he met and married Sherry Everhart. They lived in Raton for several years and he became superb in retail sales for Morgan Buildings in Raton and Prudential Insurance in Albuquerque. He sold cars for United Chevrolet in Raton and also for Ed Black Chevrolet in Albuquerque. He also was active in the family businesses. He was a member of the Raton Shrine and the Shrine Hasarat Parade Unit. He was a past president of Kiwanis and district chairman for the Girl Scouts. Loyd Joseph Wilkins III was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Wilkins and grandparents, Grace and Loyd Wilkins. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Wilkins of Albuquerque and three beautiful children, Michelle Wilkins, Mark Wilkins and Laura Baca; his father, Loyd Wilkins Jr.; stepmother, Janis Wilkins; his sister and her husband, Connie and Quinton Wood; a brother, Charles (Buddy) Wilkins. Also surviving are four grandchildren and mother and father-in-law, Charles and Dorothy Everhart and family. Funeral Services were held for family and friends on Monday, July 16, 2007.
