Obituary for TABET

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday July 15, 2007

Cayla Ashley Tabet, 16, a resident of El Cerro Loop, peacefully joined our Lord and Savior at her home on Friday, July 13, 2007 after a life-long battle with asthma. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome and an incoming junior at Los Lunas High School. Cayla's dedication to the church will be remembered by all the people she touched including her godparents, Raymond Aragon and Theresa Landavazo. She was well known for her loving spirit and generous nature and for giving wonderful hugs, kisses, and advice. Videography was Cayla's passion. Her video presentation for her brother, Craig's high school graduation was admired by all. She was a role model to all her smaller cousins. They looked up to her for her kind gentle manner and her strong independent qualities. They always wanted to be close to her. She had a way with her grandfather, Herman, who when she wanted to could stop him in his tracks or just as easily bring out his loving grandfather nature. She was preceded in death by her father, Chris Tabet; her uncle, Dennis Torres; and two cousins, Marcos Torres and Trinity Sloan. Cayla is survived by her beloved mother and friend, Cindy A. Tabet; two devoted brothers, Clinton Anthony and Craig Addison Tabet; her paternal grandparents, Herman and Betty Tabet of Belen; three uncles, Jim Sloan of Belen, Larry Tabet and his wife, Kelly of Los Lunas, and Jay Tabet of Belen; one aunt, Debbie Tabet of Las Cruces; her great-grandmother, Lily Tabet of Belen; her maternal grandparents, Leroy and Sydney Bustamante of Belen and Dolores Hawkes of Albuquerque; her aunts, Sylvia Torres, Theresa Landavazo and husband, Fred, Lisa Apodoca and husband, Patrick, and Tina Baca and husband, Chris; her uncle Raymond Aragon and wife, Yolanda, and Christopher and Dallas Hawkes. Cayla is also survived by her many loving cousins, Dominique, Ellena and daughter, Alexandra, Veronica and daughter, Alysha, and Savanah Torres, Maria Ouellette and husband, Chad, Tera and Fred Landavazo IV, Joey, Amber, Anthony, and Daniel Bertrand/Landavazo, Shalene, Arielle, and Monique Aragon, Jimmy, Laura, and Jason Sloan, Edward Cubero, and Chelsea Tabet; and many other family members and friends. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Monday, July 16, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens.
