Richard E. McDevitt Major Richard E. McDevitt, (Ret.), a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at his home after a battle with lung cancer. He was born in St. Paul, MN to the late James E. and Ruby I. McDevitt. Richard was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, where he had served as a member of the Parish Council, Director of the Youth Group, Eucharistic Minister and Lecturer. During his 23 years of dedicated service with the US Air Force, he served in the Korean War as a crew chief on the B-26 and completed Cadet Pilot Training at Reese Air Force Base in 1955 where he graduated and met his wife of 51 1/ 2 years, June Marie. Richard served in Germany, Massachusetts, and Hawaii. Upon retirement in 1971, he worked in Real Estate for Gateway Realty in Bosque Farms, NM and Century 21 in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Lt. Col. Antonio Orlando. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, June McDevitt; daughters, D. Jane Davis, Teresa Orlando, Patrice Sanchez, Michele Kelly, Susanne Stephenson and her husband, Tad, and Richard McDevitt, Jr.; grandchildren, April Pappas and her husband, Jim, Jakob, Hannah and Thomas Richard, Alex and Angelo Orlando, Erica DeSmet and her husband, Michael, Robert Sanchez, Jr., Sarah, Aimee and Marie Kelly, Kimberly Stephenson and Kevin, Megan and Samantha McDevitt; sister-in-law, Jane Marcy and her husband, Jack; niece, Karyn Landmesser and her husband, Tim and children; nephew, Jack Marcy, Jr. and children; and his loving McDevitt and O'Brien cousins from Minnesota. Services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church, beginning with a public viewing on Sunday, July 1at 7:00 p.m. and a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Monday, July 2 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Father Doug Mitchell presiding. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Albuquerque. Pallbearers will be Richard McDevitt, Jr., Michael DeSmet, Robert Sanchez, Jr., Jim Pappas, Tad Stephenson, Jack Marcy, Jr., Angelo Orlando and Jakob Pappas. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Orlando, Bob and Jan Hollingsworth, Gary and Linda Hays, Ben Miranda and Jason Hatch.
