Obituary for ROYBAL

Isidro Roybal, 83, born in Los Colonias to Eliseo and Rosenda Roybal, died Thursday, June 21, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Velasquez Roybal; his children, Robert Roybal and wife, Karen, Carmen Palya and Mary "Tay" Gallegos and husband, Garry; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Jake Roybal; sisters, Carmen Vigil and Josie Sandoval and husband, Leroy; and many other family members. Isidro was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Rose Marie Rovelli. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather as well a teacher and friend to his family. Mr. Roybal served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy on the USS California. IZZY was a recipient of several medals including the Purple Heart. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish. Mr. Roybal received his Bachelor's Degree at NM Highlands University and his Master's Degree at the University of New Mexico. Rosary will be recited Sunday, June 24, 2007, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to Rosary. Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 25, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5300 Claremont NE. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
