Obituary for D'AGOSTINO

Carl Joseph D'Agostino, age 93 and a resident of New Mexico for 74 years, died on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 in Portales, NM, following an illness. Carl was born July 16, 1913 in Schenectady, NY to the late Rufo and Annunziata (Bonhommo) D'Agostino. Carl is survived by his wife of 73 years, Emily Fraissinet D'Agostino of Portales; three sons, Carl J. D'Agostino Jr. and wife, Evelyn of Orangevale, CA, James P. D'Agostino and wife, Bernice of Portales, and Paul R. D'Agostino and wife, Alice of Albuquerque; brother, Rev. Fr. Joseph P. D'Agostino of NY; sister, Helen O'Brien and husband, Joe of VA; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In 1933 Carl moved to Socorro, NM to attend what was then known as New Mexico School of Mines. It was there he meet the love of his life and future bride Emily. They were married on April 16, 1934 in Socorro. After serving in the U.S. Army during WW II Carl returned to Socorro where he became the Postmaster, a job he held until his retirement in 1972. Carl and Emily lived in Socorro until 1993 when they moved to Albuquerque. In March of 2007 they moved to Portales to live with James and Bernice. Carl was a devout Catholic and a life time member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th degree Knight in the Belen Council. A viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, June 24, 2007 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, 309 Garfield Socorro, NM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in San Miguel Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in San Miguel Catholic Church with Fr. John Daniel celebrant. Interment will follow in the San Miguel Catholic Cemetery with his grandsons: Carl III, Mike, Steve, Mark, Anthony, Tim, and Paul serving as casket bearers.
