Obituary for COONEY

Dorothea Karon Cooney, 88, died April 4, 2007 in Arlington, TX after an extended illness. She was born on April 12, 1918 in Oxford, KS. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Mabel Abildgaard. Her husband of 58 years, Basil U. Cooney, and three older sisters preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Winston I. Cooney of Sarasota, FL, and J. Patrick Cooney of Highlands Lakes, NJ; one granddaughter, Mrs. John (Paige) Salvo, of Voorheese, NJ; and two great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. She resided in Albuquerque, NM for 29 years where she was an active member of the Covinant Presbyterian Church and the AM Chapter of P.E.O. She maintained membership in and contributed to both organizations after her move to Texas. Her ashes will be interned with her husband's in The Santa Fe National Cemetery on June 11, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. A Memorial Service is planned at the Covenent Presbyterian Church later in June.
