Obituary for BENEDICT

Andrew Sylvester Benedict passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in Albuquerque. He was born January 28, 1915 in Salem OH to Joseph and Mary Benedict. Andrew was the youngest of 11 children. He served his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force. Andrew retired in 1974 as a Aerospace Munitions Officer at Kirtland Air Force Base. He was a founding member of John XXIII Catholic Community in 1984. Andrew was an outstanding golfer. He was a Tri-state Champion in 1934 of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. His proudest moment was teaching Nancy Lopez to putt. Andrew was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Alma Dick-Benedict; daughter, Connie Benedict; grandchildren, Elizabeth Finch, Connie Barnes and Christine Alexander; great-grandchild, Luc Barnes; and sister, Evelyn Wertz and her son, Eric.
