Obituary for ANAYA

Jose (Joe) Medina Anaya, 82, passed away Monday, May 21, 2007. He was born January 22, 1925 in Tucumcari, a son of Leucadio and Adelicia Anaya. He served in the Army at the age of 17, during World War II. After returning, he married Rose Garcia, November 14, 1945 in Lakeview, TX. In 62 years of marriage, they raised six children, living in New Mexico, Texas, and California. They returned to their beloved New Mexico upon retirement in 1994. Survivors include his loving wife, Rose; two daughters and three sons, JoAnn Thornton, Jimmy (Linda) Anaya; Jerry (Lidia) Anaya; Jennifer Anaya, all of Wilmington, CA; Jacob Anaya, Edgewood, NM; nine grandchildren: Dawn, Jenny, Lisa, Joseph, Leslie Ann, Jerome, Steven, Julie, and Anthony. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren and his faithful dog, Lucky. He was preceded in death by one son, Johnnie Anaya; three brothers; and one sister. The Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW, where friends and family may call for a visitation one hour prior to the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 25, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Josephs on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW.
