Leona (Lee) McBride, 91, died Friday, May 18, 2007. She is survived by a sister, Penny Hogg of Albuquerque; niece, Cheryl Groebner of Placitas, NM; nephew, Tom Hogg, III of West Hollywood, CA; great-nieces, Lisa Mayhill of Santa Fe, Paige Lewis of Los Lunas, NM, and Carrie Staller of Denton, TX. Lee was born on July 19, 1915 in Lincoln, NE where she lived the first 21 years of her life. She attended the University of Nebraska, earning a B.A. Degree and M.A. Degree in English. Lee was active in the field of education for 39 years, thirty five of which she was on the faculty at Central High School in Naperville, IL. While teaching English during the school year, she spent her summers traveling and attending classes in library science at Columbia University, The University of Colorado and the University of Illinois. The last years of her career, she served as a librarian at Central High School prior to retirement. In 1995, she moved to Albuquerque to be near her family. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and The Naperville Women's Club. Lee was an avid reader and bridge player. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 20, 2007 at Three Fountains Club Room, 2212 Lester Dr. NE.
