Obituary for PANEBOUEF

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday May 06, 2007

Edwina Consuelo Martinez Panebouef, "Connie" left us on Wednesday evening, May 2, 2007. She was 76. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, Connie was born in Pintada, NM, to Ernesto and Fabiola Martinez. She was a beloved sister to Salome "Sam" Martinez, Mary Serrano, Anita "Tatie" Martinez, and two infant sisters, all of whom preceded Connie in death. She was a beloved friend, cousin, aunt, and sister-in-law. She was known to many as "Deeney" or "Aunt Deeney." Connie has joined her husband, Armando Panebouef who passed away just under two years ago. They were united in marriage for almost 60 years. Connie is survived by her three children, Ron Paneboeuf and his wife, Vivian de las Mercedes Mancha, Karen Buckholtz and her husband, Clayton Broadnax, and Debra Widmer and her husband, Philip; her six grandchildren, Angie Romero and her husband, Thomas, Brandi Phlieger and her husband, Michael, Kemen and Seber Paneboeuf, Nicole and Christopher Widmer; and four great-grandchildren, Kiera Sanchez, Skyler Romero, and Kenyan and Rowan Phlieger. Through a lifetime of debilitating illnesses, Connie showed strength of spirit and faith unbeknownst to most. Though she was told at a very young age she would never live to see her children grow; with devout faith and fiery determination, she not only watched them grow, but watched them bring forth two more generations. Her family was her greatest triumph and her proudest creation. She leaves behind her a legacy of love and strength of spirit. Beloved by family and many, many friends, Connie touched our hearts and showed us all what it meant to treasure life. She will forever live in those that were blessed enough to know her. A Rosary will be said Monday May 7, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming NE. Mass will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the same church.
