Obituary for TRAPP

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday April 29, 2007

Kay Lynn Trapp, 69, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, April 26, 2007, after a long and courageous struggle with multiple sclerosis and cancer. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, David L. Trapp. She is also survived by son, Greg Trapp, Executive Director of the New Mexico Commission for the Blind, and his wife, Tonia, of Albuquerque. She is further survived by daughter, Lori Lynn Trapp-Slack-Montner of Albuquerque; and grandchildren, Shane Slack and Marshall Montner, both of Albuquerque. Lastly, she is survived by her Brittany spaniel, Tequila, who valiantly struggled through his own battles with illness to comfort his adoring owner. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bonnie B Woolley and John A. Woolley, of Sun City, AZ. Due to the onset of multiple sclerosis, Mrs. Trapp retired from the University of New Mexico Department of Physiology, where she had worked for 17 years, finishing her career as an Administrative Assistant. She was the devoted wife of David L. Trapp, a 1955 graduate of the Navel Academy who was an officer serving with the 4926th Atomic Test Squadron at Kirtland Air Force Base when they met and married. Mr. Trapp retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1993. Always thoughtful and putting others before herself, her life was focused around her husband, children, and parents, with idyllic summers spent at Conchas Lake. Services will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., at the French Mortuary Chapel, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel with Pastor Rick Donaho of New Covenant Church officiating. Internment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. The family thanks their many friends and the home health aides for their wonderful support and prayers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Commission for the Blind, 2905 Rodeo Park Dr. E. Bldg. 4 Suite 100, Santa Fe, NM 87505, or the Animal Humane Association of New Mexico, 615 Virginia SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
